Pretty things and other stuff I love

These are some of the (material) things that make me happy. Some of them have affiliate links, and some don’t. For those that do, you might be able to find them at a better price somewhere else. If so, more power to you. Either way, I thought I’d share the love!

Oxo ground beef chopper
I’ve always detested browning ground beef. I don’t like the smell, I don’t like having to get rid of the fat, and I don’t like the tedium of trying to break it up into acceptably small pieces. I still haven’t solved the first two problems, but I was strolling through my favorite store one day and decided to pick up the Oxo Good Grips Ground Meat Chopper. This little gadget knocks it out of the pasture when it comes to breaking up ground beef. It makes an unpleasant task much easier (and keeps my cookware from getting scratched up when I resort to stabbing clumps of ground beef with a fork!).

This might seem like a strange thing to buy from Amazon, and if you can find it at your grocery store (I buy it at Fresh Market), you don’t have to. But if you like spicy food, you should buy it somewhere! I use it in everything from marinades to compound butters.

Patti Podnar 50ish with a Full Nest

Hi, I’m Patti. I’m also 50ish, and I still have three teens at home (thus the full nest!). I’m committed to helping parents of special needs children get the very best IEP they can. I’m also passionate about the things I learned caring for my parents in their last few years.

I’ve written professionally most of my adult life, and I’m really excited about the opportunity to write in my own voice (especially since I’m much funnier in writing than in person). So I hope you can find both useful information as well as entertainment here.
