French Country Farmhouse Style: Learning on the go

Wow…it’s been a hot minute since I promised updates on this page!

Because…life

It’s not that we’ve suffered any major disasters, it just seems that I spend half my days driving kids back and forth to schools and jobs. I’m probably one of the few parents who can’t wait for my daughter to get her license. Her Irish twin brother has his license, and his school is only a couple of miles from hers, but their schedules don’t mesh. And, because of COVID, schools don’t want kids getting there too early or hanging out afterward, so she can’t ride with him. And my oldest son — 18 and ASD with pathological demand avoidance — is working (thank goodness!), but he doesn’t drive. And his schedule is pretty much the same as his siblings school schedules, so, while my logistics aren’t on the level of clearing out the Port of Los Angeles, it takes some doing.

And then there’s school. Back in the day, you didn’t know how your kid was doing until report cards came out. Now the system is set up to turn us into helicopter parents right when our teens want us to mind our own business!

Anyway…life is good, but hectic. So I’ll be doing things backwards: I’ll start with Christmas decorations, and then go back to “ordinary time” decor after the holidays.

With that said…Merry Christmas to all!

Patti Podnar 50ish with a Full Nest

Hi, I’m Patti. I’m also 50ish, and I still have three teens at home (thus the full nest!). I’m committed to helping parents of special needs children get the very best IEP they can. I’m also passionate about the things I learned caring for my parents in their last few years.

I’ve written professionally most of my adult life, and I’m really excited about the opportunity to write in my own voice (especially since I’m much funnier in writing than in person). So I hope you can find both useful information as well as entertainment here.
